What we did: rested, Cafe Coffee Day, dinner at KFC
Budget: 3500R/$70; Spent: 3895R/$78
Today was another rest day. Both Patty and I were still not feeling great, so we didn't feel like venturing far from our hotel. We went downstairs to eat a simple breakfast of toast and yogurt. It was amazing to eat yogurt again!
After this, we went out to the Cafe Coffee Day attached to our hotel and had delicious, expensive coffees. We sat there all afternoon surfing the internet and working on our blog. It was extremely warm today and thankfully the cafe had some shading and, hilariously, two air conditioning units that were blowing cold air into the open-air cafe.
We didn't move from our spots in the cafe until about 5pm, when we decided, stupidly, to seek out the KFC we had spotted on our taxi drive to the hotel. For some reason, KFC sounded like a perfectly reasonable place to eat even with our stomach troubles.
I thought that we would find the KFC on the same road as our hotel, but I had forgotten, as Patty reminded me, that we had actually made a turn after we had seen the KFC. Patty remembered the intersection we had turned down so we headed that way.
We spoke to a security guard who confirmed we were headed in the right direction and after 10 minutes or so we found the KFC. We ordered meals of chicken, fries, and a drink. I tried the curry flavoured chicken and sort of wish I hadn't.
On our way home we stopped at a grocery and a street vendor to pick up some oranges, yogurt, water, candy, and pop. Once back in our hotel room we watched Zero Dark Thirty, the movie about the assassination of Osama bin Laden, while eating a ton of junk food. It was a good night...the movie was pretty good too.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to bed until around 4am. Neither of us was feeling particularly tired, and we had a very difficult time falling asleep.
It's OK though...it's not like we will be doing much tomorrow anyway!

You guys are crazy with your fast food! Man, if my stomach was bad, the last thing I'd want is to chow down on Dirty Bird.
ReplyDeleteCan you find something like Gatorade there? You need to replenish your electrolytes from all your, ah, venting. I don't know if pop is the greatest thing for you. The carbonation might further irritate your stomachs.
