Post #140 – February 28, 2013 – Krabi Town, Thailand

What we did: arrived in Krabi, explored Krabi
Budget: 1800B/$60; Spent: 1595B/$53

We were awakened from our not-so-deep slumber this morning at 6am by a bus change in a town called Surathani, which is a transport hub in southern Thailand. We waited for about 45 minutes and basically just watched the sun come up. We had another two hour drive to Krabi Town, our destination, and arrived there around 8:30am.

We paid for a taxi that dropped us off at our guesthouse and the ride took no longer than 10 minutes. The guesthouse is quite pleasant looking, and it is run/owned by a wonderful couple. We got a reasonably priced breakfast while we waited for our room to be ready. We also went on the internet, which is free, thankfully.

Once our room was ready we discovered that we had a large room with a king-size bed. It was quite a pleasant surprise! We decided to head to lunch after we were settled in and showered. We found a quaint little place filled with locals a block or two away on a main road and we enjoyed a decent lunch there.

Being exhausted from our almost back-to-back bus rides, after lunch, we went back to the guesthouse for a much needed sleep. Later that night, we asked the wife where we could go for dinner and she recommended a nearby seafood restaurant.

It was no more than a five minute walk and once we were there we found it filled with locals. We were seated immediately and dinner promptly followed. At first, Patty was given the wrong dish, but the servers quickly sorted it out. Overall, it was a little pricey for Thailand and not overly tasty. I don't think we'll be returning.

After eating, we headed back to our guesthouse, stopping along the way at the 7-11 for some water. It was not an exciting day!
